This is totally self serving and off topic, but I’m following his father-in-law’s advice: “If people forget it’s your birthday, it’s your own damn fault.”
Well, today’s my birthday. I’m 43! I’ve known my wife since I was 12 an it’s another good day. In 2 months we’ll have a teenager. Time is flying and we’re [...]

We passed this golf cart on the Ravenel Bridge this morning and snapped a cell phone picture. Wouldn’t it be GREAT if one of these would show up when you’re fishing fishing at Six Pipes or crabbing at the Rice Trunk?
I can hear the sales pitch now: “Snacks? Beer? Candy? Bait?”

Goal Affects the Whole Community

My “What’s the Goal” blog post has garnered a fair amount of interest over the past few days. Here’s part of an email I received from just one lot owner,
“It’s not just the homeowners who are getting crushed by the high annual costs, it’s also the lot owners without homes who are postponing building due to the [...]
Joe Knows — The Thunderbox is too Loud

The picture says it all. Long-time Dewees Ferry Mate Joe RusKauff is smart enough to wear hearing protection when staffing the Dewees Lady. If you ride the ferry 8 hours per day, like the staff does, then the Dewees Lady would surely give you a headache. Long-term it might make you deaf.

If you haven’t tried Facebook yet, you should. It’s a great way to get in touch and stay in touch with what’s happening with family and friends. Unlike MySpace, which can be viewed by anyone and is a little creepy, Facebook is based on your circle of friends and their friends. You’ll be amazed by [...]

Dewees Island just announced that it’s laying off the Assistant Island Manager as a way to save costs.
I’m all for saving money, but I wonder if the POA / Manager have a comprehensive plan in place for what the level of services should be vs. the target cost. With a specific set of goals [...]
More than 1 fox on Dewees

Lori Sheridan Wilson, the Nature Director for Dewees, has found evidence of a gray fox on Dewees. She has seen scat from a gray fox. Along with the photographic evidence of the red fox on Dewees, that means we have at least 2 foxes on Dewees. If each has a mate, then [...]
